In this class we will be working on several projects. The first lesson I show you how to draw an outline of a figure and then how I draw clothing over that figure. There will be two main projects, one of a full figure and the other from the bodice up and going over how I paint a portrait using acrylics and watercolors.

I demonstrate how to make a layered substrate using vintage fabric, joint compound and watercolor paper. This creates a very textured, rich surface to paint on.

In addition we create strips of fabric with paint and plaster to use as borders and additions to the fabric collage.

I demonstrate painting whimsical characters starting off with collage pieces. These are fun and expressive and stand on their own. I focus on bringing personality into the characters.

I demonstrate painting flowers  on rich surfaces of fabric with joint compound that I then distress to create an unusual surface to paint on.
