In this course we will be creating a very layered and textured journal pages. The techniques I will be sharing can also be used to create original art as well as a journal spread. I use watercolors and acrylics along with charcoal and graphite. I will show you my process of painting over an image as well as creating a drawing and painting a figure and an animal. This page is very personal for me. I was so inspired by my trip to Morocco and the beautiful Berber women that I met. I want to encourage you to do your spread that is personal and meaningful to you. There are so many techniques I will be sharing with you that are some of my favorites.

I sketch out the face of the main character as well as the tiger. I demonstrate working watercolors at first but slowing mixing in some acrylics. I love the combination of watercolor translucent layers as well as layered opaque layers from the acrylics. I show you how to use collage to inspire the piece. Added texture is used by working with joint compound and stencils.
